3D & VFX
Softwares used:
Animation: Maya
Fog simulations: Phoenix FD/3DsMax
Ice growing simulations: Maya
Render: Redshift/3Ds Max
Comp: After Effects
This was a project full of challenges in many different ways. It was the beginning of the pandemic, and the teams couldn’t record in a studio. So for this project, they adapted ways to film in each actor’s bathroom with limited space and equipment (using a cell phone).
I participated in producing the animated packshot with 3 versions of labels (Portuguese, English, and Spanish) and a high-resolution version for printing.

Making of
The environment was first created in Photoshop based on the provided Key Visual to facilitate the approval process. I placed the 3D products in position and tested compositions and framing. With the more developed 3D elements, I obtained approval in the form of still frames.
According to the provided references, I needed to simulate condensation on the product with ice crystals forming and a thin layer of ice growing like snowflakes developing. The crystal formation was done in Maya using Mash, and the growth of the thin ice layer was done in After Effects by animating small snowflakes line by line, spreading in an animated texture and using it as a bump map on the surface.
To better convey the feeling of cold, I also needed to create an environment with simulated smoke in the set, bottles, and snow particles in the wind.
